Kale Chips Recipe

You probably know that part of feeling good is feeding your body nourishing and nutritious food—but it can also be delicious! Megan, the general manager at Goodside Grocery Food Co-op, has teenage sons that LOVE these kale chips. They disappear almost as quickly as she can make them. Goodside Grocery gets variety kale bunches from Victory Garden Farm weekly. Visit them at 1131 North 8th Street and grab some for your next snack!

Kale Chips

Ingredients:

  • One to two bunches of your favorite Kale.

  • one to two Tablespoons of olive oil

  • one or two teaspoons of nutritional yeast

  • a pinch of red chili flakes,

  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

  • sea salt to taste

Take one to two bunches of your favorite well-rinsed kale and chop into bite-sized pieces. You can de-vein the leaves if you desire. Then dab dry. Add about one to two tablespoons of your favorite olive oil. Then, sprinkle with nutritional yeast, red chili flakes, sea salt, and garlic powder. The seasonings are really up to you—experiment and make your own delicious combinations! Take time to cover the kale with the toppings completely and evenly. Spread onto a large cookie sheet and place in a preheated 350-degree oven for ten to fifteen minutes. You can turn the chips to make sure they are crisping to the right consistency. The goal is to bake the kale chips evenly into crispy, almost melt-away goodness.  Different kale varieties will have different times in the oven, just keep a close eye to make sure they are baking to your desired product. Let cool for a few minutes and enjoy!
