Lumbar Spine

What do you know about your lumbar spine?

The bottom portion of your spinal column, your lumbar spine supports the upper parts of the spine. It connects to the pelvis and holds most of your body's weight, as well as the stress of lifting and carrying items. The nerves that travel through it control your intestines, reproductive system, legs, feet, and more—it’s very common to see pain in the lower back, because it does so much!

What do you think might happen if there was a misalignment in your lumbar spine? It would surely impact the nerves around it, making communication in your body more difficult.

When we locate misalignments in a lumbar spine, many of the times we have correlating symptoms such as:

- pain in the lower back, buttocks, legs, or feet

- digestive troubles

- history of reproductive problems

- numbness/tingling in the legs and feet

This is definitely not an all encompassing list, but when you know where the nerves that travel through that area of your spine end up, it’s pretty easy to see why we might have some issues arise.

As chiropractors, we don’t usually aim to treat any symptoms specifically. Our goal is to analyze the position of your spine, how the joints are moving, and adjust accordingly!

When your spine is in it’s optimal position, it lays the groundwork for your nervous system to freely communicate as it should, allowing symptoms to fall away.
