3 Types of Stress Effecting Your Overall Wellbeing
Your body is exposed to three different kinds of stress on a daily basis. Our body’s ability to adapt to this stress determines our overall wellbeing!
1) Physical Stress - these can be big or little traumas that your body experiences. Big trauma (macro traumas) are events like a fall, major injury, or accident. Little traumas (micro traumas) are daily things that we may do like: having poor posture and repetitive movements. These are activities that may not seem like a big deal at the time, but have a negative impact on our health.
2) Chemical Stress - The reality is that we are bombarded with chemical stress daily in things like: plasticware, processed foods, personal care products, household cleaners, polluted air, cookware, and so much more.
While some of these things may be out of your control, it is absolutely key to be the gatekeeper of your home and check ingredients in the products that you and your family are using.
3) Emotional/Mental Stress - When we chronically experience or harbor negative emotions like sorrow, anger, anxiety, and worry, it can really take a toll on the body by keeping you in a state of fight/flight. This raises the stress hormones in your body, and can hinder your body from operating at its best.
What Can I Do?
While it is imperative to be mindful and minimize stress where you can, there is one course of action that you can take that helps reduce ALL kinds of stress, and activates the peace + balance part of your nervous system - chiropractic care!
Tapping into the parasympathetic portion of your nervous system allows your body to enter healing + restoration mode, leaving you more adaptable when stress does come your way. This goes for people of all ages, too!
